Kim & Chris Ewen

We are SO excited to welcome you to our home! As the founders of XL Escapes, we pour our hearts into creating a space where you can relax, unwind, and make lasting memories.

With two rescue dogs—Holly from Bosnia and Buddy from All Bullie Rescue—and Nala, our beautiful ginger cat (and undisputed Queen of the house), we understand how important it is to feel not just at home, but truly content and relaxed—especially when traveling with your furry companions.

Our goal is to offer more than just a holiday; we want to provide a home away from home where you can escape daily pressures, have a laugh, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Whether it’s a cosy night in, exploring the local area, or simply making time for yourself, we’re here to make your stay special.

If you have any requests—big or small—just let us know. We’re always happy to help (and we love an excuse to bring a smile to your face, drink in hand, of course!).

Meet Your Hosts

The team behind Holidays With My Dogs live and breathe dogs. Having experienced life with their own anxious dog, they designed their holidays around the things they always wanted from a break away but struggled to find elsewhere. Their aim has always been to create somewhere that allows every member of the family, including four-legged ones, to truly relax. Rather than simply allowing dogs, everything has been planned with them in mind, from secure walking spaces and enclosed gardens to dog showers, thoughtful extras and practical facilities that make travelling easier.

XL Escapes Peace Of Mind Promise

Every business you see on XL Escapes has confirmed to us that they welcome XL Bullies. Before being listed, we ask the questions we'd want answered ourselves — from real experience living and travelling with XL and reactive dogs. That includes confirming they are happy to host XL Bullies, that their listing details are accurate, and that they've considered their own legal and insurance responsibilities. We don't assume. We don't guess. We ask — and they confirm. If anything changes or a business doesn't stand by what they've told us, we take it seriously. If a business listed on XL Escapes turns you away because of your dog's breed, contact us. We will review it, remove them if necessary, and refund your membership.

Amenities:

Dog-Friendly Details That Matter

Unlimited dogs are welcome with no additional charges. XL Bullies are welcomed, as confirmed by the owners. Reactive dogs are accommodated under the same rules as the cottages. Dogs are welcome on sofas and beds. The property has a large private garden of approximately 0.75 acres. The garden includes an unfenced, overgrown pond, so owners should supervise dogs that may be attracted to water. The rear garden is one large open space, while a smaller enclosed area at the front is ideal for late-night toilet breaks. One corner of the garden is fenced off with approximately 3ft 6in palisade fencing and is out of bounds. Boundary fencing consists of either thick, high hedging with approximately 4ft stock fencing behind it or 6ft feather-edge wooden fencing. The garden runs alongside the road. Passing dog walkers, runners and cyclists cannot usually be seen because of the hedge but may occasionally be heard. Rabbits, squirrels, moorhens and a variety of birds and insects regularly visit the garden, making it a typical country setting. Guests have direct access from the garden into their own approximately 3-acre private walking field (Road Field). Road Field is available throughout your stay except Wednesday evenings and Sundays between 10am and 3pm, when it may occasionally be used for dog training sessions. Guests will be informed if these sessions are not taking place so they can enjoy unrestricted access. There is no access to the Pond Field or Back Field during stays at Whitecross Farm House. A hot and cold outdoor dog wash is provided. Three built-in dog crates are available in the living room, with additional crates available to borrow. Dog bowls, towels, biodegradable poo bags, holiday dog tags, Pet Remedy spray, accident cleaning spray, emergency first aid supplies and other dog essentials are provided. The utility room includes an additional fridge specifically useful for storing raw dog food. Dogs are welcome throughout the home.
