We are SO excited to welcome you to our home! As the founders of XL Escapes, we pour our hearts into creating a space where you can relax, unwind, and make lasting memories.

With two rescue dogs—Holly from Bosnia and Buddy from All Bullie Rescue—and Nala, our beautiful ginger cat (and undisputed Queen of the house), we understand how important it is to feel not just at home, but truly content and relaxed—especially when traveling with your furry companions.

Our goal is to offer more than just a holiday; we want to provide a home away from home where you can escape daily pressures, have a laugh, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Whether it’s a cosy night in, exploring the local area, or simply making time for yourself, we’re here to make your stay special.

We're not new to hosting — we've been welcoming guests to Catboat Cottage in Appledore since 2005. Our family-run business has welcomed guests from all over the world, and we are fortunate to have a number of guests who return year after year. We are proud to have built up a trusted reputation with a dedicated team made up of lovely locals, all with backgrounds in tourism, who share one thing in common: their love of Appledore. We fully support XL Bullies with an exemption certificate and owners who follow the legislation.

It’s the ideal place to feel uplifted as you relax and soak in the wonderful coastline, enjoying the scent of the sea breeze. Sailor Vie is situated in the historical area of West Quay, close to the RNLI lifeboat station, rockpools, beach and two great family pubs. There is a slipway between the two pubs that takes you onto the beach. The cottage sleeps up to 6 guests plus an infant in a travel cot. Facilities include: 3 bedrooms: 1 king size and 2 doubles. 2 bathrooms, including 1 en suite. One ground floor family bathroom. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Dog bowls. Temporary dog tags. Dog-Friendly Details That Matter 

XL Bullies are welcomed with an exemption certificate, and owners must follow the legislation. Owners need to show their dog’s exemption certificate. 2 dogs are welcome. The garden is fully enclosed and private. The garden is south-facing. High stone walling surrounds the garden of approximately 5ft. There is no rear access to the cottage. Dog bowls are provided. Temporary dog tags are provided with the cottage contact details on them. Dogs are not allowed in bedrooms. Dogs are not allowed on beds or soft furnishings. Dogs must not be left alone in the cottage. Any fouling in the garden must be cleaned up immediately. There are no other animals on site. The owner is not sure whether the cottage would be suitable for reactive dogs and would like to discuss this further with guests before booking. Irsha Street is a narrow coastal lane lined with terraced houses. The South West Coastal Path runs past the door, so owners of dogs who react to people, dogs or passing movement may want to discuss suitability before booking.
