We are SO excited to welcome you to our home! As the founders of XL Escapes, we pour our hearts into creating a space where you can relax, unwind, and make lasting memories.
With two rescue dogs—Holly from Bosnia and Buddy from All Bullie Rescue—and Nala, our beautiful ginger cat (and undisputed Queen of the house), we understand how important it is to feel not just at home, but truly content and relaxed—especially when traveling with your furry companions.
Our goal is to offer more than just a holiday; we want to provide a home away from home where you can escape daily pressures, have a laugh, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Whether it’s a cosy night in, exploring the local area, or simply making time for yourself, we’re here to make your stay special.
If you have any requests—big or small—just let us know. We’re always happy to help (and we love an excuse to bring a smile to your face, drink in hand, of course!).

The team behind Holidays With My Dogs live and breathe dogs.
Having experienced life with their own anxious dog, they designed the cottages around the things they always wanted from a holiday but struggled to find elsewhere. Their aim has always been to create somewhere that allows every member of the family, including four-legged ones, to truly relax.
Rather than simply allowing dogs, everything has been planned with them in mind, from secure walking fields and enclosed gardens to dog showers, hampers and thoughtful extras that make travelling easier.

Hare Cottage is a luxury, fully accessible dog-friendly holiday cottage in rural Cambridgeshire, just five minutes from Ely. Designed for both people and dogs to relax, it features a secure private garden, its own private play paddock, a hot tub and exclusive access to secure walking fields.

Built in 2019, Hare Cottage is a luxury dog-friendly holiday cottage designed to offer comfort, accessibility and a genuine home-from-home experience for both guests and their dogs.
Situated in peaceful rural Cambridgeshire, just five minutes from Ely, the cottage has been thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind. Fully wheelchair accessible with ramps, wider doorways and a roll-in shower, it is equally well suited to guests travelling with elderly dogs who may struggle with steps.
The open-plan living area includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, bespoke double sofa bed, wood-burning stove with logs included, Freeview TV, DVD player, Bluetooth soundbar and digital radio with Spotify. Underfloor heating, powered by an air-source heat pump, keeps the cottage warm throughout the year.
The kitchen includes a full-size fridge/freezer, induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, slow cooker, cafetière, cookware, baking equipment and all the everyday essentials needed for self-catering.
Patio doors open onto a secure private garden via a shallow ramp, where guests can enjoy the private hot tub, BBQ and outdoor seating. Beyond the garden is Hare Cottage's own private play paddock, giving dogs even more secure space to enjoy before accessing the larger secure walking fields.
The spacious bedroom features a super king-size bed which can be configured as twin beds if required. A double sofa bed in the living room provides accommodation for an additional guest if needed. Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen, goose feather duvets, a choice of pillows, fluffy bathrobes and slippers are all included.
The large bathroom features a freestanding bath alongside a spacious walk-in or roll-in shower with a rainfall shower head and separate handheld spray, making it ideal for guests requiring accessible facilities.
A practical storage cupboard near the entrance provides space for coats, boots and dog food, while shared laundry facilities are available in the separate laundry building opposite the cottages.

Dog-Friendly Details That Matter
Unlimited dogs are welcome with no additional charges.
XL Bullies are welcomed.
Reactive and nervous dogs are especially well catered for thanks to exclusive use of the secure walking fields and Hare Cottage's own private play paddock.
Dogs are welcome on sofas and beds. Throws are provided to help protect the furniture.
Dogs may be left unattended if they are comfortable being left alone. Owners of dogs likely to bark or become distressed are asked to arrange a dog sitter. Recommendations can be provided.
The private garden is fully enclosed with fencing over 2 metres high.
The garden is laid with artificial grass and slate, with fairy lighting, BBQ and outdoor seating.
There is at least 6 metres between neighbouring cottage gardens, helping reduce visual contact with other dogs.
Hare Cottage has its own private secure play paddock, accessed directly from the garden, before leading into the larger secure walking fields.
Guests also enjoy complimentary access to approximately 8 acres of secure walking fields, booked in private time slots so dogs never need to share with unfamiliar dogs.
Dogs must remain on lead outside enclosed gardens and secure fields as the site shares land with the owners' home.
A hot and cold outdoor dog shower is provided.
The full-size fridge/freezer provides ample room for raw feeding, with deliveries available from the local pet shop.
Dog towels, bowls, biodegradable poo bags, holiday dog tags, Pet Remedy spray, accident cleaning spray, emergency first aid supplies, cooling mats, paddling pools and shaded outdoor resting areas are all provided.
Spare dog beds, crates, puppy pen, raised feeders and a car ramp are available to borrow on request.
The secure fields contain ponds and are available exclusively for guests.
Dogs are not permitted in the hot tub.
Children should not use the dog agility equipment in the secure walking fields, as it is designed for dogs only.
