We are SO excited to welcome you to our home! As the founders of XL Escapes, we pour our hearts into creating a space where you can relax, unwind, and make lasting memories.
With two rescue dogs—Holly from Bosnia and Buddy from All Bullie Rescue—and Nala, our beautiful ginger cat (and undisputed Queen of the house), we understand how important it is to feel not just at home, but truly content and relaxed—especially when traveling with your furry companions.
Our goal is to offer more than just a holiday; we want to provide a home away from home where you can escape daily pressures, have a laugh, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Whether it’s a cosy night in, exploring the local area, or simply making time for yourself, we’re here to make your stay special.
If you have any requests—big or small—just let us know. We’re always happy to help (and we love an excuse to bring a smile to your face, drink in hand, of course!).
Meet Your Hosts
The team behind Holidays With My Dogs live and breathe dogs.
Having experienced life with their own anxious dog, they designed the cottages around the things they always wanted from a holiday but struggled to find elsewhere. Their aim has always been to create somewhere that allows every member of the family, including four-legged ones, to truly relax.
Rather than simply allowing dogs, everything has been planned with them in mind, from secure walking fields and enclosed gardens to dog showers, hampers and thoughtful extras that make travelling easier.

Dragonfly Cottage is a luxury one-bedroom dog-friendly retreat in rural Cambridgeshire, just five minutes from Ely. Created with couples and their dogs in mind, it combines stylish interiors, a private hot tub, secure garden and exclusive access to secure walking fields where dogs can enjoy private exercise sessions.

Dragonfly Cottage is the couple's hideaway at Holidays With My Dogs. Full of luxurious velvets, copper accents and thoughtful touches, it has been designed as a relaxing escape where dogs are just as welcome as their owners.
Located in peaceful rural Cambridgeshire, just a five-minute drive from Ely, Dragonfly Cottage offers everything needed for a comfortable and memorable stay.
The open-plan living area combines the fully equipped kitchen, dining space and lounge, creating a cosy place to unwind after exploring the surrounding countryside. The kitchen includes a full-size fridge/freezer, induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, slow cooker, cafetière and a full range of cookware and kitchen essentials. The living space features a giant bespoke sofa with plenty of room for both people and dogs, a wood-burning stove with logs included, Freeview TV, DVD player, Bluetooth soundbar and digital radio with Spotify. Underfloor heating, powered by an air-source heat pump, keeps the cottage warm throughout the year.
Outside, large floor-to-ceiling windows open onto a fully enclosed private garden complete with a hot tub, BBQ, outdoor dining furniture, artificial grass, slate edging and fairy lights, creating a peaceful space to relax.
Dragonfly Cottage has one spacious bedroom with a super king-size bed, which can also be configured as twin beds if required. Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen, goose feather duvets, a choice of pillows and throws for dogs are all provided. The bedroom also includes a velvet chair, mirror, hairdryer and USB charging point.
The bathroom has been designed with luxury in mind, featuring a large freestanding bath alongside a spacious walk-in shower with a choice of shower heads, as well as complimentary toiletries, towels and bathrobes.
Parking is conveniently located directly opposite the cottage, making arrival simple and stress-free.

Dog-Friendly Details That Matter
Unlimited dogs are welcome with no additional charges.
XL Bullies are welcomed, as confirmed by the owners.
Reactive and nervous dogs are well suited to Dragonfly thanks to exclusive access to the secure walking fields.
Dogs are welcome on sofas and beds. Throws are provided to help protect the furniture.
Dogs may be left unattended if they are comfortable being left alone. Owners of dogs that may become distressed or bark are asked to arrange a dog sitter. Recommendations can be provided.
The private garden is fully enclosed with fencing over 2 metres high.
The garden is laid with artificial grass and slate edging and includes fairy lighting.
There is at least 6 metres between neighbouring cottage gardens, reducing visual contact with other dogs.
The secure garden leads directly to the secure walking fields via a double-gated pathway.
Guests have complimentary access to approximately 8 acres of secure walking fields, booked in private time slots so dogs never have to share with unfamiliar dogs.
Dogs must remain on lead outside enclosed gardens and secure fields as the site shares land with the owners' home.
A hot and cold outdoor dog shower is provided.
The full-size fridge/freezer provides plenty of room for raw feeding, with deliveries available from the local pet shop.
Dog towels, bowls, biodegradable poo bags, holiday dog tags, Pet Remedy spray, accident cleaning spray, emergency first aid supplies, cooling mats, paddling pools and shaded outdoor resting areas are all provided.
Spare dog beds, crates, puppy pen, raised feeders and a car ramp are available to borrow on request.
The secure fields contain ponds and are available exclusively for guests.
Dogs are not permitted in the hot tub.
Children should not use the dog agility equipment in the secure fields, as it is designed for dogs only.
